Making a Photobook with Lightroom
I had my first photobook made using the Book module in Lightroom. Most of the photos in this book were made by a photographer hired to shoot my wedding, but I included a couple of images that I captured in Hawaii. Lightroom makes the process of making a photobook extremely easy, and ordering the print is as easy as clicking “send to Blurb.” Below is a video I made about the process.
Why Make a Photobook?
In today’s digital age, most of our images live on harddrives, cellphones, and Instagram or blog posts. The images we share are just big enough to view on our devices and we can’t appreciate the full detail of said images. Printing photos brings our images to life and allows us to see all of the different elements in the images we capture. Making a photobook is one of the easiest ways to print and organize a collection of photos.
Print Your Photos!
I haven’t printed any of my photos outside of this photobook yet, but I definitely plan to. One of my favorite photos from our trip to Hawaii is one of my wife driving our rental Jeep. Printing this image in the book allowed me to see the limitations of the T5i that I’m currently using. While I know that I won’t be able to print large, I do want to make smaller prints of my favorite photos. Although my images are readily available in various places (Instagram, Onedrive, Harddrive, iCloud), I don’t get the same enjoyment out of scrolling through a screen that I do looking at physical images. Most people are not using film anymore, and that allows us to view our images instantly. However, the overall process is not complete until the photos are printed and able to be viewed up close and personal.
